The most diverse products can be measured with the TEWS moisture-measuring instruments. In order to increase the accuracy of the measurement for special applications, many different sensors are available: for laboratory use and bypass systems tubular measuring cells, and for the use in processes disc-shaped planar sensors.

By means of the valve system integrated in the bypass-measuring cell of the MW3200, product samples are removed from the main stream, and automatically measured in established time intervals.  

The microwave resonance method delivers a measuring signal correlated with the water content. Thus, the measured microwave values must be uniquely associated with the moisture values determined with a reference method (direct method).  The system then automatically determines a regression function. The menu-driven calibration is easily performed. The possibility of choosing between linear and non-linear (Polynomial) calibration exists.

Color Autonomy
In contrast to infrared methods, microwave resonance technology is completely independent from the color of the product.

Core moisture determination
In comparison to other methods, TEWS instruments determine the total body of the physically bound water (surfaces and core moisture), because the microwaves push through the entire sample.

Ionic components can influence the measurement during many procedures. The TEWS method uses the polar character of the water molecule and therefore possesses a very high selectivity when detecting water.

Long-term stability
Due to the measurement of two independent parameters versus a constant newly determined zero point (empty status) the calibrations do not change themselves due to outside effects.

Material moisture
Absolute content of the water in a material in contrast to relative values, for example, during the determination of the moisture in the air, which is specified dependent on temperature.

Another word for applicator.

Microwave Resonance Procedure
From TEWS’ patented moisture measuring method, which is based on the measurement of two independent parameters correlated with moisture and density, the displacement of a resonance frequency, and the absorbability of the resonance peak. For this purpose a product loaded with water is brought into a resonance field. The water influences the field and the field changes are measured and specifically, mathematically prepared.

Moisture measuring technology
The TEWS instruments were specially developed for the determination of material moisture in solid products. For this reason, the microwave resonance method offers special advantages such as speed, color and density independence, accuracy, determination of the core moisture, and independence from surface effects.

Packing density
The measuring instruments work independently from the density, and the thickness of the product. An additional weighing of the products is not necessary.

Planar sensor
The disc-shaped planar sensor is employed in the inline process control with the MW 3260. It can be integrated into a belt transfer station, a hopper wall, or in a vibrating conveyor system. Direct product coverage is necessary.

Surface effects
The microwave resonance method is independent from the structure, color, and granulation of the surface of the product. What is important is that the infiltrates the measuring field equally.
